CTCL Launches Counted, a First-of-its-Kind Print Magazine for Local Election Officials

The inaugural copy of CTCL’s new magazine, Counted, is fresh off the press. Designed to tell stories about — and for — the people who run our elections and make democracy happen, issue #1 has just arrived in the mailboxes of election departments around the country.

Counted is designed to help local election officials feel fully recognized in their day to day challenges and successes, all while providing deep dives into the practical aspects of the work. To that end, the first issue features articles on best practices for emergency management and cybersecurity, case studies on how offices around the country have recruited, trained, and supported poll workers, and profiles of offices who helped pilot and refine both the voluntary, nonpartisan Standards for Election Excellence and the Alliance Certification Program, where offices can now pursue certification in the Standards

In addition, Counted celebrates the human side of the work, featuring personal stories and contributions by local election officials, who also happen to be community members, travelers, parents, amateur chefs, and so much more. We can’t wait to give you a snapshot of their lives beyond the office.

Counted will arrive in election office mailboxes quarterly (not subscribed? Add your name here). Readers can also access a digital version of the magazine, and story ideas can be submitted to [email protected].
