Now Open: A Nationwide Path to Certification in the Voluntary, Nonpartisan Standards for Election Excellence

CTCL is proud to announce that the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence’s Certification Program is now open to election departments across the country! Election offices can apply for certification in 11 of the voluntary, nonpartisan Standards for Election Excellence to earn recognition for their teams’ great work and improve the voting experience for their communities.

The Standards were developed by election officials, for election officials to help election departments across the country — both large and small — increase trust and credibility in their communities, strengthen operations, and create the best possible experience for voters. What’s more, the Standards represent the country’s first-ever set of universally applicable guidelines for election administration, a huge leap forward in creating a democracy that works across all zip codes.

Here’s how it works: once an office successfully completes an application (this takes two hours on average) and their submission is approved by the certifying body (a process that takes about two weeks), the entire office is now Election Excellence Certified. The office will then receive a certification toolkit to help celebrate and communicate this achievement to the public.

All participating offices will also gain access to the Alliance Certification Forum, an online community of election officials nationwide dedicated to election excellence.
