We turn data into actionable insights that drive real change for election officials and the voters they serve.

Over the past decade, CTCL has pioneered comprehensive civic information datasets that have empowered millions of Americans to participate more fully in democracy, while also driving groundbreaking insights on the demographics of representation. Over the next three years, we are excited to shift our focus toward research that will drive real change in the elections landscape and ensure a democracy where:

  • Public officials in all levels of government are responsive and accountable to the people and communities they serve
  • All Americans have meaningful pathways for civic engagement and access to the information they need to fully participate in civic life
  • Every community can rely on their local governments to deliver excellent services

To achieve this vision, we will be launching a series of research initiatives focused on election administration, public service, and civic participation.

CTCL will continue maintaining our officeholder dataset, the Governance Project, and partnering with mission-aligned nonpartisan researchers. CTCL will no longer be updating the Ballot information Project, our candidate dataset. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in collaborating on a research project or have questions about our existing datasets.
