CTCL speaks on tech panel at VRAV conference

CTCL’s Director of Government Services, Whitney May, was invited to be on a panel at the 2015 Voter Registrars’ Association of Virginia (VRAV) annual conference in Colonial Williamsburg. VRAV is the professional association for Virginia’s voter registrars. It promotes the efficient and effective administration of the voter registration and election processes throughout the Commonwealth.

The panel, which included three local election officials, discussed new technologies in elections and registrations.

Jason Corwin from Mecklenburg County talked about how he uses free Google products and Microsoft Excel to manage election data. Ricky Keech from Loudoun Countyspoke about how his office works with Google spreadsheets and tablets in their polling places to deliver faster unofficial results on election night. Cameron Quinn from Fairfax County shared how her office coordinates with their county GIS department to populate a map of districts and precincts with their election results. Whitney May from CTCL presented five must-haves for local election websites, along with available resources to help election officials modernize their websites.

You can view our panel’s full slide presentation below.

It was awesome to hear from so many election experts.

Christy McCormick, Chair of the Election Assistance Commission (EAC), spoke to the group about the EAC’s treasure trove of resources.

And Allison Jones Robbins from Wise County participated in a panel on her office’s innovative poll worker recruitment.

Thanks to VRAV for a friendly and educational conference. Huzzah!
