Travel

Please book your flights as soon as possible.

If you would like CTCL to book and purchase your flights for you, please contact Whitney at whitney@techandciviclife.org.

If you prefer to book and purchase your flights, CTCL will reimburse you for roundtrip economy flights to Chicago and the other transit required to attend the workshop (e.g. CTA train, Lyft, cab). Please keep your receipts.

If you drive to Chicago, CTCL will reimburse you at the current IRS standard mileage rate of 54.5 cents per mile.

Getting to the hotel from O'Hare

From O'Hare, your quickest route will most likely be the "L" Blue Line. This is the only train that goes to O'Hare. The ride should take about 45 minutes. To get to the train station, follow the "CTA Trains" or "Trains to City" signs throughout the terminals. You'll go down 2 floors from arrivals. The walk from any gate to the station takes about 10 minutes.

You can purchase a Ventra pass at the train station where Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) attendants can answer any questions you might have.

Remember to hop off at the Washington stop and then walk 0.2 miles to the hotel.

Here's a map to help guide you from O'Hare to the Hotel Monaco Chicago via the Blue Line.

Getting to the hotel from Midway

From Midway, your quickest route will probably be the "L" Orange Line. This is the only train that goes to Midway. The ride should take about 45 minutes. From the terminal just follow the signs "CTA Trains" or "Trains to City". Pass through the parking building and take the pedestrian overpass to the station. The walk from any gate to the station takes about 10 minutes.

You can purchase a Ventra pass at the train station where Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) attendants can answer any questions you might have.

Remember to hop off at the State/Lake stop and then walk 0.1 miles to the hotel.

Here's a map to help guide you from Midway to the Hotel Monaco Chicago via the Orange Line.

Taking a cab, Lyft, or Uber from the airport

Both airports have cabs, Lyft, and Uber options. Depending on the time of day and traffic, your commute may take over 1 hour. If you use a ridesharing app, follow the instructions in your app to locate your pick-up location at the airport.

Getting back to the airport

If you are leaving directly from the workshop to the airport, your best option will be a CTA train. It's a straight shot to either O'Hare or Midway in about 45 minutes. A cab or Lyft will most likely take more than an hour or more, depending on traffic.

For O'Hare travelers, you'll walk 0.3 miles to the Washington Blue Line stop. Here's a map to help guide you from the Chicago Community Trust to O'Hare via the Blue Line.

For Midway travelers, you'll walk 0.2 miles to the State/Lake Orange Line stop. Here's a map to help guide you from the Chicago Community Trust to Midway via the Orange Line.
